1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 (3- to 3-1/2-pound) chicken, cut into 8 pieces
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cup apple jelly
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 red apples, cored and cut into 1/2-inch wedges (see Note)

In a shallow dish, combine the flour, salt, and pepper. Dip the chicken into the seasoned flour, coating completely.
