The mind can be a powerful ally when changing a pattern of behavior. Changing your perception can be helpful, and positive affirmations are just one way to do that. Sure, saying something positive to yourself sounds simple, but it really does work.

Create a positive affirmation by following these basic guidelines. Your affirmation should be:

Positive (avoid using the word 'not')

Present tense (no past or future tense)

Attainable (it has to be something you can do)

Realistic (no far-fetched affirmations)

Independent from external forces (can't blame it for not working because of someone else's action or inaction)
