Being born and raised in New Zealand gave Dr. Julian Vickers an early appreciation for a healthy, active lifestyle and fresh, organic food. Raised on a farm in Kaikoura, www.kaikoura.co.nz a beautiful coastal farming community on New Zealand’s South Island he learned to cultivate the land and grew most of their own food. The nearest neighbor was an organic farmer who studied nutrition and would share the bounty of his harvest and his knowledge with his neighbors. From this start, Dr. Vickers began a lifetime of study of natural healing, nutrition and healthy living.

After completing his undergraduate work in New Zealand, he studied chiropractic at Palmer College of Chiropractic www.Palmer.edu in Davenport, Iowa, known as the Fountainhead of Chiropractic. He graduated in December, 1978 with a D.C. (Doctor of Chiropractic) degree.

Within a few months of graduating, he settled in Anchorage, Alaska where he practiced for six years while enjoying the active, outdoor life commonplace in that state. He also studied Neuroscience for two years in a graduate program at the University of Alaska, Anchorage under Richard W. Kullberg PhD. After leaving Alaska, Dr. Vickers managed a high volume practice in Boston, Massachusetts for three years. Deciding that 15 years of battling ice and snow was enough, he then relocated to Southern California where he has practiced since 1988. For the first year he worked at the International Sportsmedicine Institute in Los Angeles and then in February 1989, bought a house in Laguna Beach and set up a private practice there.

The Laguna Beach Chiropractic Office he founded is dedicated to serving patients looking for natural and alternative methods for healing. Gentle chiropractic treatment is mixed with exercise training, nutritional counseling and nutriceutical treatment of chronic illnesses. As well as on-site treatment, telephone and email consultations are available for patients who are unable to travel to Laguna Beach for treatment.

Lifelong learning is very important to Dr. Vickers. As well as earning a diplomate in chiropractic othopedics and also in chiropractic neurology, he has been teaching these subjects since 1992. He is an adjunct professor at the Southern California university of Health Sciences www.scuhs.edu and has taught postgraduate classes in the US, Canada and Japan. He is also the vice-president and education chairman of the International Academy of Chiropractic Neurology www.iacn.com, for whom he teaches and organizes their annual symposium.

Dr. Vickers is an avid gardener and enjoys running, sailing and scuba diving. He and his wife Mary also breed Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.
