Dr. Ping, I am within 10% of my weight when I was 20. Why do I still need to cut calories by 30%?

We want more efficient metablism!

If you are within +/- 2% of your ideal weight, you're considered as on target. In this case, our job is to train the body to use as minimal calories as possible to maintain the weight within this range. We recommend to continue to reduce calories in order to test how low caloric intake the body can take, and still maintain the weight. This way, we reach the most efficient metabolism.

If you are greater than 2% your ideal weight, you need to continue to lose weight to reach the ideal. That is why you need to continue to cut caloric intake. The benefit of lowering calories, and increase metabolic efficiency is enormous.

Please referring to caloric restriction , as well as pinglongevity for more information.

Hope I have answered your question.
